So lets talk about me a little bit, ok?
When I was a kid, a long time ago, I saw this advertise on the internet about the awesomeness that a Mamiya camera could do in studio, and it was wonderful for me, I’ve always loved photography, but didn’t know nothing about it; only that you had to have a camera and the film, and then, click! And later send to your local lab to develop, and those stuff, nothing more nothing less, hahah.
But then, I saw this and I decided that I would have one. Well, this didn’t happened, I didn’t became a photographer when I was a kid, I forgot about everything, well, my memory is horrible hahahaha I don’t even remember what I got for lunch.
So, back to the main story, I was watching some videos from Framed Network about film photography, and I saw that Ryan Muirhead shot a lot with this incredible Mamiya RZ67, and talking with some friends I saw that now it’s a reliable Medium Format camera to have, so I thought “Hey, why not try some Medium Format and improve the quality of my photos and do some nice portraits with people in cloths this time?” hahahaha. So I did the math about my pocket. Now I have a nice job at R7 where I’m a Front-end Developer, I’m not poor anymore like I was when I was a kid, haha, aaaand spoke with my Wife to see if we could afford to spend some thousand bucks on this camera, AAAND all answers was YES! :) so I bought the first part, the BODY! hahaha.
It’s heavy and seems so nice and perfect. And when it came from the mail some days ago I remembered about my childhood and my passion with this exactly camera! I’m so happy now :D
And that’s it, my story, a little bit about me.
Also, if you have any doubts about photography, about me, don’t be shy and ask ;)
And if you live in São Paulo let me know :) we can hang out and take some pictures.
I’ll keep you all up-to-date about this little baby ;)
First time using this camera, it has a plastic lens and weird configurations, too much depth of field for my taste and it seems to have some sort of big contrast because of the zero coating on the lenses, besides that flaws it’s an awesome camera.
I had some troubles taming this beast with a Fuji FP-3000b, it’s a 3000 ISO Black & White film from Fuji, this film do not have the glossy coating some polaroid films have, it’s kinda matte, I like that way.
The first 6 pictures, more or less became like shit haha, until I figure out that I had to turn the lens to more light to compensate the oldness of my camera to the film haha.
After that, everything seems quite neat, I used a offcamera flash (Yongnuo YN-560II) in full power mode, I saw that with less then that the photo appears a little dark, even with the lens turned everything to light :s weird.
But ok, here’s the final result:
Next test will be when my Rodenstock Ysarex Lens(127mm f/4.7) Prontor No #0 Shutter arrive (haha will take a while). I’ll try to modify my Landy 320 broken to use this lens, it has a shutter on the lens and all configurations modern cameras have :) so will be awesome to have more control on what will come to the frame, also less depth of field.
I’ll test with a Fuji FP-100c, it’s a colour film with 100 ISO. Let’s see what I can get ;).
And bonus photo haha:
